James Chaudoir has been Music Director of the Milwaukee Area Recorder Society since the fall of 2016, when he was appointed to the position by the Board of Directors. He is Professor Emeritus of Music Composition at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and a long time recorder player who has written extensively for the instrument. His SATB composition “Waltz” was featured as the 2017 Play-the-Recorder Month Composition for the American Recorder Society.
A former member of the ARS Board of Directors, he continues to serve on the Play-the-Recorder Month Task Force. He is also a member of the Oak Park Recorder School Board of Directors and on the faculty at the Whitewater Early Music Festival. In addition to directing MARS, he is Music Director of The Renard Consort in Appleton, WI.
